Days of '47 Honors Last Three Presidents

Salt Lake City

The Days of '47 recognized significant contributions to its history today while honoring three presidents who have led the organization in recent years.

Craig Peterson, Salt Lake City businessman and entrepreneur, was president of the organization during 2013 and also chaired The Days of '47 Rodeo. During his tenure, the organization transitioned through economic and organizational challenges, ending with a positive outlook for future years' activities.

Mr. Peterson was followed as president by Greg James. Mr. James, former general manager of KSL and owner of James and James, a Utah-based consulting firm, simultaneously held the position of Public Affairs chair while president during 2014. Mr. James continues with the Board of Trustees and contributes daily with public affairs, sponsorship and leadership to all events, as well as Executive Vice President with the Executive Committee. He is noted for bringing the Dixie Celebration under The Days of '47 umbrella of event offerings.

Lane Summerhays currently holds the position of president. Formerly president of Workers Compensation Fund, Mr. Summerhays currently is a member of the Fund's board of directors. His most recent efforts as president of The Days of '47 have focused on creation of a supporting organization which is designed to provide revenue, The Days of '47 Rodeo Salt Lake, a newly-authorized 501(c)(3), Type I organization, where Mr. Summerhays serves as a member of the board of trustees. Mr. Summerhays serves on various additional community boards as well.
